Sleepover games for kids

You have a 7- to 13-year-old, an evening at home, and roughly a six-hour window before lights-out. Below: three pre-rendered themed sets — Spa Night, Mystery Movie Marathon, and Camp-In — each with two or three activities plus a short supply note. Pick the theme that matches your child’s energy, then turn the preview into a printable pack in about two minutes.

These practical sample sets are fixed-shape previews, so you know what to expect. Your own pack rewrites them around your bedtime and room setup.

Quick wins

Sleepover tips that actually matter

Five small choices that keep a 7- to 13-year-old sleepover on track — and most of them don’t need a shopping trip. Anything you can stage the night before, stage then.

Tip
Plan a quiet 9 PM wind-down
Pick one calm, low-energy activity (a facial mask, story circle, sticker page) for the 60 minutes before lights-out. The vibe sets the energy for the night — every late hour flows from the first quiet one.
Tip
Stage a pillow-fort floor plan
Lay out sleeping bags and a sheet-pole system BEFORE the kids arrive. A visible floor plan means no one spends the first 45 minutes rearranging furniture, which is when most sleepovers lose the room.
Tip
Pre-portion the snacks
Pre-bag trail mix, popcorn and fruit into small ziplocks per guest. Each child gets their own stash and the round of "share yours" requests evaporates before it starts.
Tip
Cap the lights at 11 PM
Pick a hard lights-out time before bed. Plan three, not five, late-night activities — sleepovers stall when the energy runs out before the bedtime does.
Tip
Keep one parent ten minutes away
Stay in the next room and check in every 45 minutes. Most sleepover meltdowns are a 30-second fix (a missing pillow, a loud snorer) — solving them fast keeps the night calm.
